HOW TO APPLY 

*For All Fall Classes Starting: 20th September 2021, Student Application Deadline: 30th April 2021

 
 

STEP 1: Check your Eligibility 

 

To be admitted to Cégep de Thetford, you must have the following Admission Requirements: 

1. If your Highest Education Qualification is: School/ Open School Graduate: 12th Grade pass

  • You must be 18 years +

  • Have a Total Overall Score of 65% above 

  • Have Minimum 70/100 in English or an IELTS Overall Score of 5.5

  • Have your 10th, 11th & 12th Grade Mark Sheets 

  • Most updated Resume or CV 

  • Passport Copy

  • Gap year students with relevant work experience or without work experience

 

2. If your Highest Education Qualification is: Under-graduation 

  • Have a Total Overall Score of 65% above 

  • Have Minimum 70/100 in English or an IELTS overall score of 5.5

  • Have your 1st, 2nd and 3rd Year Mark Sheets 

  • Most updated Resume or CV 

  • Passport Copy

  • Gap year students with relevant work experience or without work experience

3. If your Highest Education Qualification is: Post-graduation

  • Have a Total Overall Score of 65% above 

  • Have Minimum 70/100 in English or an IELTS overall score of 5.5

  • Have your 1st and 2nd Year Mark Sheets 

  • Most updated Resume or CV 

  • Passport Copy

  • Gap year students with relevant work experience or without work experience

Upon receipt of your transcripts and diplomas, the Continuing Education Department will carry out a comparative evaluation of your studies outside Quebec and this will be kept for two years.

The application for admission must be received three months before the expected start date at an AEC. 

*Application for Fall Semester starting September 17th, 2021, the deadline is April 30th, 2021.

STEP 2: Fill our an Application Form  

You must complete the admission application form.

You will need the following documents:

  • A legible copy of your birth certificate indicating the names of your parents as well as the place of birth

  • The transcripts of all the trimesters or semesters of your last three years of secondary school (high school) corresponding to the 10th, 11th, and 12th year of studies as well as the related diplomas must be attached. Post-secondary school transcripts and associated diplomas may complete the file.

In order for your application to be complete, make sure you meet certain document quality standards:

  • Color scanned versions made from the original transcripts and diplomas will be accepted.

  • Accepted file formats:
    PDF, .DOC or .DOCX, .JPEG or .JPG, .TIF or .TIFF, .BMP, .PNG (Size limit of 4 MB per file, no document protected by password). The documents must be legible.

  • If the documents are in a language other than French or English: Attach the document in the original language accompanied by a translation produced by a certified translator.

  • Any falsification or alteration of a document or use of a false document submitted for an admission request, any false declaration, or any other failure to provide the required information will result in the rejection of your file.

 

When you arrive at CEGEP, you must present the originals of these documents. Only complete files received by Cégep de Thetford before the deadline will be processed. The result of a French test may however be sent after the deadline in the event that you have not registered for our francization program.

STEP 3: Once Admitted into Program

1. Obtain a Quebec acceptance certificate

Upon receipt of your final letter of admission, you must apply for a Québec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) for studies from:

Requirements to obtain a Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) for studies. The deadlines for obtaining the CAQ for studies are approximately 25 working days when the application is duly completed.

2. Obtain a study permit (CAQ is $116 CAD)

After obtaining the CAQ for studies, you must apply for a study permit from the Canadian Visa Office (BCV). The contact details of the various BCVs and the conditions for obtaining a study permit can be found at the following address: http://www.cic.gc.ca/francais/information/demandes/etudiant.asp

3. Show proof of health and hospitalization insurance

Under the regulations of the Quebec Ministry of Citizen Relations and Immigration as well as the Canadian Citizenship and Immigration Department, all international students must have health insurance and valid hospitalization in Canada for himself and for the dependents who accompany him or must be covered by a reciprocal health and social security agreement. You must subscribe to the group health and hospitalization insurance plan for foreign students at Cégep de Thetford.

STEP 4: Arrival in Quebec 

Your date of arrival on Canadian soil must be scheduled 10 days before the start of the session. You will need to confirm the date with the person responsible for welcoming international students at Cégep de Thetford. We strongly suggest that you have Canadian money on hand. When you arrive in Quebec, you will need to provide the original documents (see the checklist). You will be greeted at the airport by a representative from Cégep de Thetford who will organize your transport to the City of Thetford Mines.

1. Accommodation: Accommodation will have been chosen for you and will be assigned to you upon your arrival at Cégep de Thetford. This is included in your fee. 

2. Beginning of classes: The first two days of the program will be devoted to your welcome and your integration into college life.
